SIFFY 2013 was a huge success!  We had eight directors from the United States, China, England, South Korea and Taiwan and we made eight films based on the history of clay.  The students obtained oral histories about the usage of clay in Skopelos and then created their films based on the histories.  There were quite a few modern day takes on the stories. A big thank you to our directors Danya Abt, Maria Juliana Byck, Jin Joo, Wangtae Lim, Huiching Tseng, Helen Ward, Ran Yu and Sun Zhenhu.

BROKEN VASE

A grandmother’s romantic tale reveals that although the technology used to attract a possible match might be different, finding love has not changed much. Years ago,  in some parts of Greece,  young girls would throw a clay pot at a boy they wanted to meet. If the pottery shards hit the boy it was considered a good omen and the boy was invited to meet the girl.
